Dear Editor,
There is a big gap between the concern given to orphans in Rwanda as compared to that given to poor women who are not necessarily widows but have big families and no source of stable income.
There are some women who out of ignorance produce many children and find it difficult to maintain them. They thus need help as it is indeed not their own making. These women have low income from the small business they do especially in towns.
My suggestion is that organisations that look after orphans should also put into consideration these women. They should not be ignored on the claim that they are not widows because most of them have husband who have gone AWOL and left them suffering with all the children and they are as good as orphans.
