The Rwanda Energy Group (REG) on Monday, May 22, re-appointed Israeli native Ron Weiss as the Chief Executive Officer, just a week after a memo announced an interim boss.

On May 15, an internal memo indicated that Rwandan electro-mechanics engineer, Felix Gakuba, had taken over on interim basis, replacing Weiss who had been at the institution’s helm since 2017.

Gakuba is the substantive Managing Director of Energy Development Corporation Ltd. (EDCL), which is a subsidiary of REG.

On Monday, REG’s Board chairperson, Didacienne Mukanyiligira, signed a memo informing Weiss about the Board’s decision to appoint him as CEO and wished him "the very best in this role.”
