Editor,I wish to react to Sunny Ntayombya’s article, titled ‘It is time for the sane to take back America’ (The New Times, July 25). Yes, one would think that some of the most intelligent people in the world would be able to see insanity if they met it, but this is not the case. The piece sends a clear message to everybody…such a great article and excellent analysis. I sincerely appreciate the perspective of journalists in other countries on what is happening in US policy. I don’t believe the author is advocating for a Republican administration. If he understands American gun policy half as well as it seems he does, then I’m sure Sunny knows a Republican would be disastrous in the effort to eradicate gun violence in the US. But as a proud Obama supporter (in 2008 and now), I can also admit that he has done absolutely nothing to effectively curb gun violence in America. And if his administration is like every other one, he won’t be doing much in the next four years, either. Our best bet is to get enough states on board with changing the mindset so that Congress may pressure the administration to do something. PaulYork City, USA
