Editor,Having strong patrons/honorary ambassadors is the crucial key – like Christine Kenyatta-Pratt who set up the first Special Education Department and was instrumental in the integration of disabled children (and curriculum) into the Kenyan school system.To behold the daughter of our Founding President (Jomo Kenyatta) so directly and humbly concerned with the needs of our most vulnerable children was not only inspiring – but also revolutionary to ordinary Kenyans. Disability stopped being something hopeless to be feared, apologised and hidden in our homes. Let us support our children no matter whether they are disabled or not.Margaret S. Maringa
