Editor,I wish to address the Rwandan students currently on their holidays. This period provides an opportunity to improve your worth to your country and community in particular. The knowledge you gain from school will change you and your influence, and through this process, you will actively participate in the durable development of your motherland.During these holidays, reflect on how you will sustain those changes to build a better life for yourselves, your family, and others that look to you for support. Education is the main investment and does not end at school. It continues by different types of enhancement.Of course, as a student and a person willing to learn, your life is a continuing opportunity to draw knowledge from any available source. Today, we live in a revolutionized world, and reading is a crucial imperative to participation. Unfortunately, today there are more and more people who are forgetting the importance of reading and writing.Sadly, So many people don’t take the time to read books, magazines, or even newspapers anymore. Hence, a few take time to write.By reading, we enlighten ourselves competently and open-mindedly. We also get the chance to think critically and out of the box; a chance to compare what such or such author said and get to decide on our own what the accurate information is. On the other side, reading will help you to build your vocabulary, enhance your brain power, and improve your spelling. Lastbut not least, reading will provide you a wonderful time to relax and de-stress.This is a great time when you can allow yourself to be transported into another world that is exciting and different. If you need a few moments to relax after a hard term at school, reading is a wonderful way to do so.Writing is a right hand to reading. Beyond having the benefits cited above, writing will help you to create permanent records, to clarify your mind and distill your ideas. Learning to write well will also help you to speak and think more effectively as an excellent student and potential leader.I encourage you to take advantage of these holidays and read! Do not forget to share what you would have read with others by writing.Jean Leon IragenaFounder & CEO of Isaro Foundation
