King James is the fifth of seven children and born in a Seventh-day Adventists family.

He started his music career while he was a student at Ecole APE Rugunga, in 2009. As a young boy, King James’ dream was to become a footballer but later got inspired by American R&B musician Brandy and ended up giving music a try.

The singer has several singles to his name, including, "Intinyi”, "Ndatuje”, "Naratomboye” and "Nzakubona ryari”.During last year’s PGGSS, King James who has now ventured into Pop and Zouk, emerged as 1st runner-up, in a competition that was won by Tom Close.

King James is pursuing a Journalism and Mass Communication degree from Mount Kenya University.

At 15, Jay Polly went secular and recorded his first track, "Nakupenda” at BZB’s TFP studio. Later he was joined by his childhood friend, Green P, and together they went ahead to form the group G5 crew, with Perry G in 2004. That year, the trio released two songs; "Ngwino” and

"Hip-Hop game”.When producer Lick Lick started his F2K studio, the G5 crew had already disbanded and it was now called Tuff Gangs, the current home for the likes of P Fla, Fireman, Bull Dogg, Green P and Jay Polly.

At F2K, the crew released several songs, including, "Kwicuma”, "Sigaho”, "Umenyeko”, "Money” and "Target ku mutwe.”Though he appears in most songs with his Tuff Gangs crew, Jay Polly and the rest of the members often do solo recordings and performances.

In 2009, with the help of Lick Lick, Jay Polly released, "Ibyo Ubona” and later followed it up with "Ndacyariho Ndahumeka”.Jay Polly went to Kinuga Primary school and did his secondary education at E.SK. Kicukiro and majored in Art.

In 2009, Jay Polly went to Nyundo Art School, Rubavu where he completed courses in "painting and decoration” and "sculpture and ceramics”.

The singer/visual artist is a member of IVUKA, an association of artists based in Kacyiru.
