U.K Conservatives members have promised support to the Rwanda rugby federation. The pledge was made after playing a friendly match against a select national side on Friday at Amahoro stadium.According to the national rugby federation vice president Alex Araire, the match "is the first in a series of future matches aimed at creating a lasting partnership and friendship between the U.K party and Rwanda Rugby family.”The Conservative Party runs Umubano Project, a social action project in Rwanda and Sierra Leone. Volunteers work with Rwandans in fields including medicine, sport, business, planning to deliver training and sustainable projects.Steven Crabb, the Head of the Project promised future assistance to the sport in the country after praising the "abundant raw talent in the country.”Now in its sixth year, Project Umubano is an expression of the Conservative Party’s core values: voluntarism, compassion, entrepreneurialism and outward-focus. Umubano brings together the most diverse groups of party members and supporters, working for two weeks each July in challenging environments alongside African partners focused on tackling some of the root causes of poverty. The project is currently led by MP Stephen Crabb and they are always joined by 100 volunteers in Africa each year. In Rwanda, they started with cricket and plans are already in high gear to build the first ever cricket oval in the country.
