TodayRest dayMondayQuarterfinalsAPR’s Dutch coach Ernie Brandts has admitted that his team needs to improve its goal conversion rate ahead of their tricky quarterfinal clash against Uganda’s URA who emerged unbeaten in the group stage of the Kagame Club Championship.Brandts was left a disappointed man on Friday when the three-time winners succumbed to 2-0 defeat at the hands of the reigning champions Yanga African of Tabnzania in the final group C match played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.The Dutchman, who is eying a treble after winning the Primus league and MTN Peace Cup, rued missed chances adding that his main concern is the way his strikers are losing concentration at such crucial period."We dominated the game and created enough scoring chances to win but finding the net was our major undoing. We were just unlucky to lose that game, but we have put that behind us and focus is on the quarterfinal."The magic is to score more goals against URA. I would be worried if we failed to create chances but now that we are creating chances, we only have to score and that’s what we need to (against URA),” the former Dutch international told Sunday Sport by phone from Dar es Salaam.The former defender, whose contract with the military side expires on July 31, added that he is going to work more with his strikers as he prepares for Monday’s encounter against the Ugandan side, which has scored in each of their three group A matches.Skipper Olivier Karekezi says even though the two goals were a result of some lapses in the defense, hope is not lost as far as winning the competition is concerned.He said, "We played well against Yanga and lost, but still we are in the quarter finals, nonetheless, we must avoid similar mistakes against URA.”Young Africans snatched the win thanks to goals from Said Bahanuz in either half. The striker scored his firs on the 23rd minute before putting the game beyond APR in the 67th minute when he profited from Johnson Bagoole unfortunate slip while trying to control the ball inside the box. APR finished third in group C on four points, behind Burundi’s Atletico (7 points) and Yanga (six points) to set up a mouth watering quarterfinal clash against URA, who are unbeaten in the tournament.
