Rwanda will only be represented in the 16th KAVC Founders International Memorial tournament by Kigali Volleyball Club after APR and Rwanda Revenue Authority pulled out due to financial constraints.According to the team manager of Rwanda Revenue Authority volleyball team, Providence Mukamurenzi, the club used close to Rwf15m during the African volleyball club championship and it would be difficult to sustain the team in the league if they participated in the tournament"We usually spend around Rwf26m in a year that includes paying tuition for our student players, salaries, bonuses and also participating in regional or continental competitions. But we spent a lot of money during the recent African volleyball champions which was close to Rwf15m, so raising over Rwf0.8m to take part in the KAVC tournament was not possible,” Mukamurenzi told Times Sport on Friday.A total of 15 teams from Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi and Uganda were invited for the tournament and they will try to wrestle Uganda’s KAVC who are the defending champions in the men’s category while KCC won the women’s fray. The tournament starts today in Kampala.
