Players Abroad: Mukunzi on target as Rubanguka’s Zimbru qualify for UEFA Conference League

It was a good weekend of celebrations for Rwandan players plying their trade out of the country as most of the league season hits the climax.

Midfielder Steve Rubanguka could not hide his excitement after Moldovan Super Liga side FC Zimbru Chisinau secured their ticket to the Europa Conference League next season.

Yannick Mukunzi, who limped off at training with a groin injury on Tuesday, recovered in time to play the second half during Sandviken IF’s 4-0 win over Sylvia scoring the second goal while Ange Mutsinzi also netted his first goal for FK Jerv whereas Steve Rubanguka's Zimbriu Chisinau qualified for Europa Conference League.

Morocco

Emmanuel Imanishimwe played full time for FAR Rabat who drew 0-0 with UAE's Al Wahda in the Arab Club Championship.

Sweden

Yannick Mukunzi miraculously recovered from a groin injury and was introduced in the 47th minute as Sandviken IF thrashed Sylvia 4-0. Mukunzi scored the second goal for his club in the 60th minute. Fellow countryman Lague Byiringiro played the last 15 minutes of the match, replacing Ghana's Mohammed Abubakari in the 76th minute.

Rafael York tasted 90 minutes of action for Gefle IF who played a 1-1 draw with Brage.

Meanwhile, attacker Kalebo Wimbabazi was not in the Pitea IF team which beat Kalmar FF 2-0 at the Guldfalgen Arena.

Belgium

Mike Tresor Ndayishimiye provided his 22nd assist of the season as he set up Mark McKenzie during Genk’s 1-1 draw with Union Gillois.

Also, Samuel Gueulette was in action for Raal La Louviere who humiliated Hoogstraten with a 6-2 victory in the third tier.

Djihad Bizimana, who is in his last days at KMSK Deinze, featured for the U21 team which was walloped 7-0 by AS Eupen in the Belgium Reserve League.

Moldova

A 1-1 draw against Balti was enough for Steve Rubanguka’s Zimbru Chisinau to secure a European Conference League spot despite not featuring in the team’s match day.

France

Warren Kamanzi replaced Mikkel Desler in the 65th minute as Toulouse drew 0-0 with Nice in the Ligue 1.

Norway

Ange Mutsinzi ‘s 76th minute equalizer helped his side FK Jerv draw 1-1 with Kristiansund on Sunday.

Denmark

Sanders Ngabo was an unused substitute for Lyngby BK who lost 4-0 to Odense BK.

Switzerland

In the Classic Liga, skipper Quentin Rushenguziminega tasted 90 minutes of action for FC Echallens who were thrashed 5-2 by Vervey Sports.

Cyprus

Kevin Monnet-Paquet was an unused substitute for league leaders Aris Limassol who beat Omonia Nicosia 1-0.

Luxemburg

Sven Kalisa put up a fantastic performance in central midfield despite his side Etzella Ettelbruck going on to lose 3-2 to Union Titus.

Libya

Haruna Niyonzima played 87 minutes for Al Taawon who beat Shabab Al Jabal 2-1
