Rwanda Cricket Association, RCA recently revamped cricket in Lycée de Kigali by donating equipment to the school. While handing over the equipment to the school’s dean of students Rev.

Titus Mugenzi, the RCA president Charles Haba, who was accompanied by Emma Byiringiro, the schools development officer urged students to take on the sport urging that it would keep them busy and away from ill habits like drinking and smoking.

He also said that taking on the sport would help RCA in identifying new talent, "Cricket is currently one of the fastest growing sports in the world and Rwanda has come a long way.

"Rwanda recently finished fourth in the ICC World Cricket League Division 3 tournament that was held in South Africa and we don’t want to look back,” Haba pointed out.

After receiving the equipment, which included mini cricket balls and bats, Rev. Mugenzi promised to make the most of it.

"We are going to draft the g into our calendar and see how best we can come up with a strong team ahead of the schools’ tournament,” he stated.

Lycée de Kigali is one of those schools drafted into this year’s schools cricket tournament along with Kagarama SS, Green Hills Academy and Apred Ndera SS among others.
