Rwanda High Commissioner to Namibia, resident in South Africa, Vincent Karega, recently presented his letter of credence to Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba.Karega, who was appointed Rwanda’s High Commissioner to South Africa in May 2011, was among the eight ambassadors, accredited to Namibia, who presented their credentials during a ceremony attended by Namibian acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Joel Kaapanda. "High Commissioner Karega commended Namibia for the lasting peace, sustainable growth as well as the role they are playing in making the African continent proud. He expressed the wish of Rwanda to work with Namibia for mutual interest and the development of our respective countries,” reads a statement from the Rwanda High Commission in South Africa.Along with the High Commissioner of Rwanda, were envoys from Nigeria, Philippines, Italy, Mexico, Japan, and Czech Republic, among others. In his address to the new emissaries, President Pohamba emphasised the importance to promote intra-Africa trade by using advanced technology. "Trade is no longer a problem as it were long time ago. And trade brings interaction between people from different countries. Namibia needs the promotion of trade between your various countries and other friendly countries with which we have excellent relations,” Po­hamba said.He recognized that the world has become a global village, hence individual countries cannot operate in economic and political isolation therefore, the need for more bilateral relations, especially in trade."I understand that the world has become a global village, I agree,” Pohamba said, adding that this development necessitated by technology, should be used productively in trade to enhance quality life of world citizens.
