Roland Ssebuguzi (Mitsubishi Evo 9) 02:57:01 RWANDA’s rally ace Giancarlo Davite grabbed a podium finish in the Shell Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally over the weekend.Davite finished third after clocking two hours, fifty six minutes and ten seconds after completing the 644.89km event of which 371.75km was of competitive section.The former national champion beat Uganda’s Ronald Ssebuguzi to third position after protesting the Ugandan’s lenient penalty. Ssebuguzi of Jomayi Rally team had finished third ahead of Giancarlo Davite who lodged in a protest and was eventually placed ahead of the Jomayi driver. But the fourth place was enough for Ssebuguzi to joint second in NRC on 235 points with Duncan Mubiru who dropped out on Saturday.Susan ‘Super Lady’ Muwonge of Kobil Rally team, maintained her remarkable run of finishing Pearl event save for 2010 since 2007. She has finished the ARC event no lower than fifth place.Despite the protest, Zambia rally ace Mohammed Essa went to become the seventh foreign crew to win the Shell Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally. The 23-year-old was crowned the champion yesterday after completing the 644.89km event of which 371.75km was competitive in a total of 02:38:10. The win also puts him in sight of his maiden Africa Rally Championship (ARC) title. The excited Zambian said that he will try to seal the ARC title in Tanzania. The next round of the Africa rally championship will be the Kobil rally of Tanzania scheduled for August 24 to 26.
