NIGERIA is making moves to sign a trade and investment protection treaty with Pakistan in August, to further promote economic cooperation between both countries, Pakistani ambassador to the west African country Ahmed Sirohey said Sunday. Sirohey disclosed this to reporters at the end of a three-day textile and jewellery exhibition organized by the embassy in Nigeria’s capital Abuja, saying the treaty would be signed alongside other Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cultural exchange, tourism promotion and visa relaxation policy for investment. "At the August meeting, the ministries of trade and commerce of Nigeria and Pakistan would establish a joint ministries commission to drive the economic partnership,” he said. The envoy put the current trade volume between Nigeria and Pakistan at 101 million U.S. dollars, adding that 74 million U.S. dollars represented Pakistani exports to Nigeria, while the Arabic country bought goods worth 27 million U.S. dollars in return.
