Police FC striker Meddie Kagere has refuted reports that he has agreed terms with the Tanzania giant Yanga Africans, while the Primus league runners up officials say they are waiting to hear from the player after the offer they presented to him.Tanzanian sport Newspaper Mwanaspoti reported on Thursday that Yanga had included the Amavubi Stars forward in their squad for the CECAFA Kagame Cup title defense despite Police showing attentions to keep the player, who scored 12 goals in the just concluded league campaign. However, when contacted on Friday, the Ugandan-born striker said, "You know Tanzanian press, they report rumors. I’m in Rwanda and not in Tanzania as it has been reported.”"Yes I have been in contact with Yanga officials, but nothing has been agreed, and I can confirm that I will not play for them in the (ongoing) CECAFA”, stated Kagere.Police FC chairman Alphonse Katarebe says they have offered the player a new two-year contract with improved terms, but are still waiting to hear from his camp."We have offered Kagere an improved contract but he hasn’t got back to us. After qualifying for the Africa Confederations Cup, we have no problem to increase his salary but we are waiting for him to make a choice. "We spoke to him about our offer, but with players, who are out of contract, his mind has been turned by Yanga’s approach”, Katareba told Sunday Sport.Meanwhile, contrary to media reports, Katarebe said striker Laudit Mavugo is still a Police player as he still has a year remaining on his two-year contract he signed last season. The Burundian striker is being monitored by an Algerian first division club.Kagere and Mavugo were one of the most consistent striking partnership last season, scoring 22 league goals between them as Police finished runners up insuring their first ever appearance at the continental scene.
