Race against drugs on this Sunday

OVER 200 youth will this Sunday take part in a 6km race to highlight the Ministry of Youth’s continued campaign against use of drugs among young people.

OVER 200 youth will this Sunday take part in a 6km race to highlight the Ministry of Youth’s continued campaign against use of drugs among young people.According to the coordinator of Kabuga Youth Center Deo Mungwarakarama, "cash prizes will be given to the top 5 winners in both the boys and girls categories.”The one day event will be graced by the Minister of Youth and ICT Philbert Nsengiyuva and other officials from the National Youth Council.The runners will race from Amahoro stadium connect to Hotel Tech, KIE, Technical and finish at Amahoro stadium.The winner will walk with Rwf50.000, runners-up will get Rwf40.000 while the third, fourth and fifth placed runners will get Rwf30.000, Rwf20.000 and Rwf15000 respectively.The race is the first of its kind in a bid to highlight the dangers of Drug abuse.Meanwhile, Bonnie Mugabe reports that upcoming athlete Egide Kayigire clocked a personal best of 3:56.75 in the 1500m in the on-going World junior championship which is staged in Barcelona, Spain.Despite the clocking his best time so far, Kayigire failed to qualify for the final round as he was beaten to 12th position of the heat stage. The finals were set for last evening.
