Editor, I wish to respond to your story published in The New Times of July, 12, titled “Regional ministers call for FDLR disarmament”. The International Conference on Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) should go beyond the talk and walk the talk.
Editor,I wish to respond to your story published in The New Times of July, 12, titled "Regional ministers call for FDLR disarmament”. The International Conference on Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) should go beyond the talk and walk the talk. The rebel group has caused enough suffering not only to the people of Rwanda but to Congolese as well. While eliminating the FDLR militia is a regional responsibility, the DRC government must take the lead in this process. There is no way DRC will ever attain total peace while this militia which is responsible for the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi still operates in DRC.Since FDRL is based in rich mineral areas of DRC, they have gold and use it to acquire more guns to maim and kill innocent civilians. The government of DRC must realise that in order to live in peace, they have to seek peace with their neighbours.Kalisa RukundoKigali
