APR risk Kagame Cup penalty

RWANDA’s representatives in this year’s Cecafa/Kagame Club Championship risk a penalty if they don’t arrive in Dar-es-salaam by Friday morning according to Cecafa’s Secretary General Nicolas Musonye."All teams should arrive in Tanzania today because we have a technical meeting on Friday, which everyone must attend. If a club does not arrive by Friday morning and does not give a satisfactory reason, then it will be penalised. "Musonye said.When contacted, APR Secretary General Adophe Kalisa was hesitant to reveal when the club would be leaving.The club coach Ernest Brandts was ignorant too on when the club would be leaving. APR open their campaign against debutants Wau Salam of South Sudan on Saturday.The 2010 champions are favorites to win the tourney after spending heavily in the transfer season last year when they brought in Brazilians Alex De Avila Peixoto and Douglas Lopes Carneirn, Lionel St.Preux, Dan Wagaluka, Johnson Bagoole, Habib Kavuma, Olivier Karekezi, Papy Faty and Ndikumana Seleman.APR are in Group B alongside holders and hosts Yanga Africans of Tanzania, Wau Salam (South Sudan) and Atletico (Burundi).Group A has Simba (Tz), URA (Uganda), Vita Club (DR Congo) and Ports of Djibouti, while Group C is composed of Azam (Tz), Tusker (Kenya) and Mfunzo of Zanzibar.The military side is chasing a treble after sealing the local League and Peace cup.APR will kick off their campaign for a fourth regional title against newcomers Wau Salam in the opening match of the championship on Saturday, July 14. Defending champions Yanga will start the championship against Burundi’s Atletico on the same day.
