APEDI Rwaza kept their hunt for a maiden league title on track as they eclipsed Rwanda National University (UNR) 3-2 in the final to claim phase three of the 2008 Coca-Cola league.

The Northern Province club won the first and third sets before UNR claimed the second and fourth sets to set up a decisive fifth set which Rwaza eventually won 15-11. The win accumulated 195 points for Rwaza preserving their lead at the top of the league.

UNR is second with 180 points, 20 ahead of debutants Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) who are third. In the male category, the final match between APR and KVC was abandoned due to heavy downfall.

At the time, KVC had a 2-1 set lead in the best of five. The final has now been pushed to this weekend according to the federation’s executive secretary Gertrude Kubwimana.

"We have rescheduled the men’s final for this weekend. We shall give you full details during the course of this week,” the federation’s executive secretary Gertrude Kubwimana told Times Sport.

En route the final, APR and KVC had seen off UNR and Umubano Blue Tigers respectively. The third phase of the national championship attracted 27 clubs, 14 in the men’s category and13 in the ladies’ category.
