Editor, I wish to respond to a story that appeared in yesterday’s issue of The New Times indicating that foreign affairs ministers from at least 11 African countries were scheduled to meet in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, this week, to forge the way forward as tension between the Democratic Republic of Congo soldiers and M23 rebel group continues to escalate.
Editor,I wish to respond to a story that appeared in yesterday’s issue of The New Times indicating that foreign affairs ministers from at least 11 African countries were scheduled to meet in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, this week, to forge the way forward as tension between the Democratic Republic of Congo soldiers and M23 rebel group continues to escalate. It’s the responsibility of the government of DRC to ensure that all the Congolese and their property are protected. The people of DRC have had enough suffering. If the government of DRC cannot defeat the rebels and restore peace, then President Joseph Kabila should negotiate with the rebels and cease fire.President Kabila should think about the innocent civilians who are getting killed daily. Women and children who are displaced and cannot find food! However, I am happy to learn that foreign affairs ministers are going to meet to try and resolve this conflict. Stalker RusakeKimihurura
