FANS of the three Primus Guma Guma SuperStar Season Two (PGGSS 2) contestants, eliminated on Saturday night, were left disappointed after their favourite artistes could not continue in the competition.Last weekend’s elimination stage was truly shocking; perhaps the biggest surprise since its commencement two weeks ago.The three contestants, Riderman, Urban Boyz and Dream Boyz learnt of their fate in an event that left the audience and their fellow competitors confounded. Many were extremely unhappy and caught off-guard when the show’s host Lion Imanzi, announced the results, presented by PricewaterhouseCoopers, an auditing firm in charge of verifying the votes. The show started at 8:45pm, with Imanzi welcoming the six contestants to the stage. As it was last weekend, after reading out the names of the first three remaining artistes, King James, Knowless and Jay Polly, tension filled the venue, as many wondered who would take the final slot to complete the four. Then there was the bombshell ….not Riderman, not Urban Boyz, neither was it Dream Boyz, and yes, it was Young Grace. The young star had once again upset her rivals to sneak into the Top four."I’m never upset on this show, but this makes me mad. Really mad,’ said Jackson Hategeka, a Riderman fan."I’m shocked. I’m angry. I don’t even know what to say,” ranted Jessica Umutoni, a fan of Urban Boyz, faulting the voters for failing to acknowledge the group’s talent and potential in the competition. "We’re all in shock. I’m gutted. I am worried this show is going to lose its popularity,” Peter Higiro, who wished Dream Boyz would win this year’s title, told The New Times. King James was the first artiste to secure a slot in the competition and the excitement from his fans in the audience could be heard. "I’m so happy to still be in the competition and I thank all my fans for their support,” said King James, who was smartly dressed in Nigerian outfit. The second artiste to survive was Hip-hop singer Jay Polly: "Thanks to all my fans. I can assure you that we shall reach the finals.”The Hip-hop artiste, beaming with confidence, said this was his year pointing out that people had ‘liberated’ themselves to recognise that Hip-hop is different and ‘streetwise’. Ashe quickly added that this does not necessarily mean that Hip-hop artistes are hooligans.Young Grace and Knowless are steadily sneaking chances into the competition with both eyeing the title."I thank God because Knowless is still in the competition,” said Rachael Kaliza. "She’s beautiful when she sings — she’s a bird. I’m very sure she is going to win the competition” Out but not yet out….Dream Boyz’ Platini was the first to speak out, stating that despite the group’s exit, musically they are not done yet and would continue with their musical career. "We thank our fans for supporting us to reach at this stage of the Primus Guma Guma SuperStar competition”The R&B duo composed of TMC and Platini also announced the launch of a new album on November 11Unfortunately, despite his energetic stage presence and famous "Bombori bombori” track that might have seemed as a visa to the finals, Riderman was not saved. The Hip-hop star, who seemed upset yet calm, reminded the audience of his album launch in December, 2012. Urban Boyz were visibly upset. The boys, who have been relying more on the popularity of their singles; "Sipiriyani” and ‘Reka mpfukame’, had not seen it coming and were surprised to be booted out of the competition."Being eliminated from the Primus Guma Guma SuperStar competition won’t stop us from continuing to do our music,” said Humble Jezzo, of Urban Boyz."We therefore thank our fans for being with us and request them to continue supporting us.”There was also a lot of outrage on social networking sites Facebook and Twitter, though most people were agreeing on one thing – those complaining about the results are the ones who did not vote.Saturday night’s performances were not as lively as the past weekend’s.First to perform was King James doing his famous "Buhoro buhoro” track. The singer, who is a renowned crowd puller, could not manage to do so this time. Jay Polly performed "Jye nawe” with the back-up of Fireman. The rapper delivered a great performance and managed to mesmerise the bored crowd, singing along and tossing their arms in the air.He also expressed his excitement to continue in the competition and thanked the fans of his rapper crew Tuff Gangs. Jay Polly vowed to go until the end.Young Grace performed her single "Hip-hop”, while R&B sultry singer Knowless decided to treat her fans to Zouk. Knowless performed her new single, "Ca Va” and impressed the crowd with her Zouk dance moves, with a male Zouk dancer.During the interview, MC Imanzi teased Young Grace about her age and whether she had attracted a lot of votes from Northern Province, which he described as "Mu majaruguru”.But not ready to take any ridicule from the MC, the lass said that she was only 18-years, and voted by Rwandans, not a particular province. During their performances, all artistes were backed up by a live band. Once again, the show which ended at 9:29 p.m, did not air on Rwanda Television until 10p.m. Bull Dog, Just Family and Danny were the first contestants to be eliminated from the competition. The ultimate winner takes home Rwf24 million, while the final two will share the same stage with American R&B sensational Jason Derulo at Amahoro Stadium on July 28.
