Last week we caught up with him to find out how the car he won has changed his life.Qn: Give us a brief background about your lifeMy name is Ladislas Rangera and I am 52 years old resident of Kibagabaga in Kigali. I am married to Liberata Mukantaganda and we have four children together.Qn: Did you have a car before you won this one?Yes, I had a lorry. Actually, I am a professional lorry driver. My daily work is to ferry sand, stones and bricks to building sites across the country.Qn: How did it feel when you were declared the winner of the car?I can’t explain the happiness that was flowing in my body at that time. You know none of us expected to win it that day but again, when someone engages in such competitions, they all hope for the best. I still think about it today and I realise I am one lucky guy.Qn: Ever thought of selling it?That has never crossed my mind and I don’t think it will ever. You know, I consider this car as a gift from God to my wife, my kids and me.Qn: When did you begin drinking Skol beer, Was it when the draw started?I can’t remember the actual day when I first drunk a Skol beer but what I can remember is that; after that first bottle, Skol is the only beer I drink. Even all my friends have now joined me. We love its taste.Qn: After winning the car, did you get more friends?(He laughs)…I have always had friends. In fact, we have a group of friends that I normally drink with on weekends. Our group is called ‘Abakondezi’ and we look out for support, visit, advise and help each other. It is more than meeting for a beer; we are still close friends even after sharing one for the road.Qn: How many Skols do you take daily?Normally I have a box of Skol at home. I don’t often drink from bars because most evenings find me tired mainly due to the kind of work I do. So, on weekdays I take at least three petit Skols and add a few over the weekends.Qn: How has winning the Skol car changed your life?Ever since I won this car, I have considered it as a property of my family. I can now drop my kids to school so they no longer have to walk there. I use the same car when my wife wants to go shopping for food in the market. Generally, it has become the horse of the family and we are now living like the rich we used to admire.Qn: How easy is it to maintain?Sincerely speaking, when I just had it, I thought it was going to be a problem. however, I have realised that the money I get from my job is enough to buy fuel and any other accessories the car requires. Besides, it is still brand new so it does not have to go to the mechanic yet.
