POLICE football club chairman Alphonse Katarebe believes Serbian coach Goran Kopunovic is still the right man for the job and has full support of the club administration.The law enforcers were favourities to win the league last season but catapulted in the final 4 games of the season as rivals APR gained momentum to seal their 13th league title.And again, Police threw away a crucial 1-0 half time lead on Wednesday in the MTN Peace Cup final as they lost 2-1 to APR in extra time for the second year running.But despite those results, Katarebe revealed that Kopunovic has already signed a two-year contract extension, and there is gradual improvement in the team since he took over the reign two years ago."In his first season, he guided the team to 3rd place finish in the league and the Peace Cup final in his. This year APR won the league by just two points and got a narrow win in the cup final and the team (Police) will also play in the Orange Confederations Cup for the first time,” Katarebe told Times Sport.He added, "We believe he has given our players a winning mentality and tactical discipline and it is just a matter of time before we start winning trophies.” Meanwhile, the club is also keen to extend striker Meddie Kagere’s stay at the club.The Amavubi Stars’ forward is out of contract and Tanzanian club Yanga Africans are reportedly interested in his services.
