Police win Liberation handball tournament

POLICE Handball Club won the 9th Liberation Day Tournament which was staged over the weekend at Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) grounds.Four teams including National University of Rwanda (NUR), KIE, APR and Police were competing in a mini league tournament which saw all the teams playing each other, and after three matches, Police finished first with 9 points, 2 points better than APR, who drew one of their matches against KIE.Superintendent Gerard Ntare, the in-charge of sports in the National Police after the tournament said, "We’re happy with the victory because we played against very strong teams and came out on top.”After Police and APR who were first and second respectively, KIE were third while NUR came last.According to Rwanda Handball Federation vice president Théogene Utabarutse, eight teams were invited to participate in the two-day tournament but only four showed up.
