CEO of Rwanda Development Board Clare Akamanzi, talking to the Indian Investors. The New Times / Timothy Kisambira.

Editor,This letter is with reference to your article in yesterday’s issue of The New Times, titled "Rwanda courts India support for UNSC seat.”My country, India, will always support Rwanda in her quest for excellence, be it in the bid for a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), in developing trade and commerce, enhancing investments into the country or supporting Small and Medium Enterprises to increase their presence on the international arena.   In fact, an SME delegation from Western India comprising the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa, will be visiting Kigali within a month to support Rwandan SMEs.To mark Rwanda’s Independence Golden Jubilee, an eminent ophthalmic surgeon, Dr Quresh Maskati, has very kindly agreed to join this delegation and assist the people of Rwanda who may be having eye disorders. As Williams Nukurunziza, Rwanda’s High Commissioner to India, rightly said, Rwanda’s journey over the last 18 years has been phenomenal. It is very encouraging to note that projects by Indian entrepreneurs, worth over $US 200 million, were registered in Rwanda last year alone. A further $ US1 billion worth of Indian projects are already in the pipeline. In conclusion, it is my firm belief that Indo-Rwandan ties will continue to grow from strength to strength and both countries will be work closely together, in making this world a better place to live in.Clarence Fernandes
