If you watched the John Carter movie trailer, bet you would sell a treasure just to get the full glimpse of it. The 132 minute classic is directed by Andrew Stanton is a solid adventure film firmly rooted in the massive world Burrough’s created 100 years ago. Stanton who deserves to be praised for handling of such an unwieldy universe. Here we meet Civil War Confederate Army Captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch) as his body and personal effects are entrusted to his young nephew, Edgar Rice Burroughs (Daryl Sabara.) Burroughs begins to read Carter’s personal journal which chronicles Carter’s discovery of a medallion in a cave that transported him to Mars and the fantastic adventures he had there. He was a slave, a hero, a warrior and a liberator ultimately falling in love with the beautiful Princess of Helium, Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins), but those only scratch the surface of his many adventures and the mystery of his unexplained death on Earth.John Cater was an inspired choice for our hero. He captures the multiple layers required to bring this character to life extraordinarily well. He has great chemistry with Collins and his encounters with Mark Strong’s villainous Matai Shang crackle with all the electrical tension they should and if you let John Carter the movie pass you by without buying it? Don’t blame anyone because it’s worth each penny you pay for it.
