135 Gasabo district employees on Thursday received laptops through the One Laptop per Employee Project at Gasabo district head offices in Ndera.

Computer Bytes, a company that specializes in computer hardware, networks, and IT consultancy in both Rwanda and Burundi supplied the laptops.

During the ceremony, the Mayor of Gasabo district, Claudine Nyinawagaga, thanked the local government for making it possible for the district employees to acquire laptops at a fair price and said the move will boost service delivery at the district.

"The local government has worked hand- in-hand with us and I believe that the move will assist district employees deliver better services” Nyinawagaga said.

She also noted that the employees are lucky to acquire the laptops because they are affordable and the terms of payment are favourable to all.

"It’s going to be cheaper for the employees because they will be required to pay only 30 percent of 550,000 in 12 months and the remaining sum will be paid by the district of Gasabo,” Nyinawagaga said.

The ICT Manager of Computer Bytes, Samuel Nelson, said that their company is working together with districts and companies to uplift the level of computer literacy by offering affordable laptops within the country.

The marketing Manager of Computer Bytes, Kariningufu Songa, on the same occasion said that they were not limiting their dealings to districts and companies but also deal with individuals.

"We supply laptops to our customers on both company and individual basis after the client pays 30 percent, of the total cost and the rest of the money can be paid in a space of 12-24 months depending on the terms agreed upon,” Songa said.
