THÉONESTE Nsengimana is the latest Rwandan athlete to qualify for the London Paralympics Games after attaining the required minimum mark in 1500m T46. The Paralympics Games are scheduled for August 29 to September 9.Nsengimana clocked 4.06.05 to finish second in the 1500m T46 event during the Belfort Championship for the handicapped athletes stage in France at the weekend. In achieving the London mark, the 23-year old set a new national record.Paralympics Games chef de mission Celestin Nzeyimana said yesterday, "His time is enough to allow him compete in the Games. He is our 14th athlete for the Paralympics Games and we are very happy with his achievement,”This was his second international outing following last year’s All Africa Games held in Maputo, Mozambique where he ran his best time of 4.14.00 in 1500m.Nsegimana joins national sitting volleyball team, power lifter Théogène Hakizimana and 400m & 800m specialist Hermas Cliff Muvunyi, who have already booked their slots for the London Games.
