Pastor Elisée Rugambarara is a Bible Teacher at New Life Bible Church, Remera. He has been living a Christian life for over ten years since his secondary school in 1980s and 90s.

Who is pastor Elisée Rugambara

You are the second person to ask me that question, the first person was my wife when I proposed to her, I am influenced by three places I have lived, (Rwanda, DR Congo and Uganda).

My personality or character is influenced by those three places. I am a flexible person. E.g my wife says that I am very open and others know me as a person who can keep secrets. I am good at reading books so it makes me a more of quite person.

The first thing you do in the morning

Obviously, as a Christian I wake up at 5 am and pray, I make it a discipline though some time when I am fasting I get more time to rest preparing for more time to pray later in the day.

What makes your day?

As a pastor, after prayer and done with shower, Then I will read the bible as a bible teacher, care to believers and most time after work I get time for my family.

What about your favorite meal?

Isombe, Rice and beef. We used to have Isombe five times a week so I came to like it very much.

And your favorite Verse?

I have gained more favorite verses but I have liked to read proverbs 3:1-10 regularly because there are promises that are prerequisite. I read this scripture many times in a year. It has long life, health and others.

Who inspires you? And Why?

Apart from Jesus Christ, My former late Congolese pastor Albert Lukusa Luvungu inspired me. He was a pastor of Viens et Vois’ in Lubumbashi.

He was a God fearing man (Not fear of man) he was very objective basing on the Bible which is not subjective. He dealt with issues with out sentiments, he was out of emotions. Not many people have been successful in that. It really helped me to shape myself.

How do spend your money?

I have a budget that covers rent, home shopping, fuel and what I call miscellaneous (for social work like weddings and the like). When some friends bless me/offer me with let say 1000 dollars, I invest it in land.

What are your hobbies?

I like reading Journals and books to get informed and watching TV but documentaries to add on my knowledge. I like to learn more.

Who is your favorite star?

I don’t have a human star, Jesus Christ is my star but I have come to like Bill Hybel the author of Too Busy not to pray and making life work among others, I enjoy reading his books.

What is fondest memory?

It was a trip I enjoyed with my parents driving to Burundi though it left me questioning how a car can move around corners but today I know and I am a driver myself.

Tell me about how you met your wife?

She used to sing in choir when I spotted her for the first time and she was a good girl but I just dropped it. Later I went to Uganda for farther studies and she also went to UK and coincidentally we came back at the same time.

When, Sunday she asked a question that provoked me to propose to her after realizing that she must be a serious person. She asked me that now I have finished studies, what plans I have.

What plan do you have for your family?

Studies and children to meet people that matter in my life.

Any achievements?

Bachelors’ degree in theology and plan to go for masters also write books in future.

And lastly what message do you have for other religious leaders?

Let us not be contented of state or situation, let us believe for God to do better. God has better things for us.
