Sunrise FC head coach Innocent Seninga will not be on the touchline when his side welcomes title chasers Kiyovu Sports during Sunday’s league clash at Nyagatare Stadium.
Media reports indicated that the gaffer, who had been out after undergoing surgery for an Achilles tendon, will take charge of the team’s last two league games against Kiyovu and Rayon.
The club management, however, dismissed the claims and instead said that assistant coach Gilbert Tugurimana will coach Kiyovu game as Seninga continues his recovery.
The team manager of the club, Pascal Nkunda says those claims are false and Tugurimana will continue until the season ends.
"It is not true that Seninga will be in charge of Kiyovu game. He is still recovering and the assistant coach will continue to handle the team," Sunrise team manager Pascal Nkunda told Times Sport on Tuesday.
Sunrise sit 10th on the league table with 34 points. They need at least one point from their remaining two fixtures to be safe from relegation.
The Nyagatare-based team defeated Kiyovu Sports 2-1 in Kigali in the first round on October 1, 2022 thanks to goals from their attacking pair Samson Babuwa and Yafesi Mubiru.
