Editor,I appreciate your relentless efforts in informing the public about the current affairs as well as putting to light some of the issues affecting Rwandan citizens. In your recent publication of June 22, 2012, you ran a story entitled "RRA short of Rwf56bn to meet target”. This was none other than a misleading article trying to sway away from the correct tax revenue figures.   I must categorically put a lime light to this by stating that, so far, tax revenue performance for the last 10 months (July 2011-April 2012) was Rwf463.1 billion against a set target of Rwf427.6 billion. The total tax revenue collections excluding the months of May and June is Rwf463.1 billion. This means that a total of Rwf56 billion that the writer mentions as "RRA short of Rwf56bn to meet target” was instead the difference between the annual target (Rwf519.7 billion) and the ten months collections: Rwf463.1bn (July 2011-April 2012).RRA is therefore confident that considering May collections and projections for June 2012, it will exceed the annual tax revenue target of Rwf519.7billion.We wish to apologise to the public that might have been misled by the said article to take the contents of this as indisputable tax revenue figures and contact us should there be any clarifications needed.Agnes Kanyangeyo,Director for Planning and Research DepartmentRwanda Revenue Authority
