KIGALI - Burundi Vice-President, Dr. Yves Sahinguvu arrived in Kigali Friday on a six-day official visit. On arrival at Kigali International Airport, Sahinguvu, accompanied by his wife, were met by Prime Minister Bernard Makuza and other high-ranking government officials. He is scheduled to pay a courtesy call to President Paul Kagame. Speaking to reporters on arrival at the airport, the Burundi Vice President said he was in Rwanda to strengthen the existing bilateral relations between both countries.
KIGALI - Burundi Vice-President, Dr. Yves Sahinguvu arrived in Kigali Friday on a six-day official visit.
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, Sahinguvu, accompanied by his wife, were met by Prime Minister Bernard Makuza and other high-ranking government officials. He is scheduled to pay a courtesy call to President Paul Kagame.
Speaking to reporters on arrival at the airport, the Burundi Vice President said he was in Rwanda to strengthen the existing bilateral relations between both countries.
Before beginning his official visit on Monday, he will over the weekend attend a private function organized by the Lion’s Club, and then meet members of the Burundi community at Hotel Novotel Umubano.
Sahinguvu’s official visit begins with a visit to Gisozi Genocide Memorial Centre. He will then meet for talks with Prime Minister Bernard Makuza, ministers and other government officials.
Other institutions on his itinerary are Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) Rwanda Office of Tourism (ORTPN) and the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NRUC).
Sahinguvu will also be given an extended tour of Kigali City and then end his visit with an inspection of the new Bugesera-Nemba highway which, when completed, will be the nearest route to Burundi.
The Burundi Vice President will end his visit on Wednesday afternoon.
