Every career starts somewhere and there was a time when Hip-hop artistes were looked at as simply ‘Wanna bes’ - guys who were trying hard to carry themselves and rap like American counterparts. That generation went and in came the young stylish artistes who thought Hip- hop could sound good in Luganda. Years later, Hip-hop has become a respected genre.Last weekend, Ugandan Hip-hop producer Roland Agaba, alias Row Cash called on the fraternity to celebrate the achievements of the genre at Cayenne Lounge and Bar in Bukoto, Kampala. This reunion party, also marked five years of Row Records which has produced music for most of hip hop artistes in the country. In the house were Baboon Forest Entertainment members, GNL Zamba its president, Mun G, Big Trill, then other hip artistes like T-Bro, Lethal, O.P.U and Gary. "I am happy for you guys turning up. "This is the true Hip-hop spirit - coming together to share ideas and celebrate. I am humbled by your presence,” said Agaba of Row Cash. Daily Monitor
