Editor, I feel so privileged that my country is one of the few places that are still home to mountain gorillas worldwide. It is indeed befitting that, as a country, we continue to protect these rare animals, which happen to be close cousins to human beings.
Editor,I feel so privileged that my country is one of the few places that are still home to mountain gorillas worldwide. It is indeed befitting that, as a country, we continue to protect these rare animals, which happen to be close cousins to human beings. And the event to name their young ones (like it happened last Saturday, as reported by this newspaper) demonstrates the importance Rwanda attaches to them.It is our moral responsibility to keep these rare species alive and to continue creating an environment that allows them to multiply. While the Congolese side of the border continues to be dangerous for mountain gorillas owing to endless wars there, Rwanda and indeed Uganda and DRC should continue to work together to ensure that these animals are safe and sound.Peter KamaliKigali
