AFTER a month of criss-crossing the country from East to West, South to North, the Primus Guma Guma Superstar (PGGSS) roadshow winds up in Kigali this Saturday, before the elimination phase sets in next weekend. The 10 stars competing for the top prize will tomorrow afternoon perform at the Petit Stade’s parking lot in Remera in preparation for the crucial elimination phase of the the Bralirwa-sponsored contest through a public vote. The 10 stars are Riderman, Jay Polly, Knowles, Young Grace, Bull Dog, King James, Just Family, Dream Boyz, Danny and Urban Boyz. However, before the dreaded phase kicks-off, Kigalians will have an opportunity to have a glimpse of the 10 stars in their final attempt to woo the public. The stars had previously performed in Karongi, Bugesera, Ngoma, Rusizi, Huye, Nyamagabe, Musanze, Rubavu, Gicumbi, Nyagatare and Muhanga. The road shows were literally fun filled and also served as a chance for the artistes to determine their popularity countrywide. On the final upcountry road show in Rubavu last weekend, the East African Promoters boss, Joseph Mushyoma, said this year’s Primus Guma Guma SuperStar has been overwhelmingly successful, after it attracted thousands of fans compared to the maiden contest last year. The PGGSS has somewhat turned around the local music industry in a way not seen before as artistes performed before huge crowds in all corners of the country. During elimination shows that commence next Saturday, the stars will perform live at the Expo Grounds tent in Gikondo. Public voting also starts next week. The winner of the contest will take home a grand prize worth Rwf24m."I cannot wait for the show to come to Kigali. We have been watching shows on TV about what happens when the contestants go upcountry. I think it will be exciting,” noted Janvier Kanimba, a music dealer in town. The elimination shows will be aired live on Rwanda Television, every Saturday while the highlights show airs every Friday.
