FIFTY-FOUR cyclists from nine teams will take part in the 140km Ascension de Mille Collines tour which will take place this Saturday, Rwanda Cycling Union Executive Secretary Emmanuel Murenzi has confirmed. Each team is required to register a minimum of four riders and no more than six in the Soras Sponsored one-day competition that will see riders ranked in team category and not as individuals as it has been in the past.Benediction cycling club which consists four national team riders; Hadi Janvier, Gasore Hategeka, Joseph Biziyaremye and Nathan Byukusenge is favourite to win the competition but Kwita Izina cycling tour champion Abraham Ruhumuriza is not ready to let the Rubavu based club win easily."Although they are our biggest challengers, we will not let them win easily. We have some incredible young riders in the team and will work as a team to challenge Benediction,” vowed Ruhumuriza, who rides for ‘Cycling For All’ club. The other clubs that will take part in the tourney are: Fly (Gasabo), Club les Amis Sportif (Rwamagana), Kiramuruzi (Gatsibo), Rapide (Kicukiro), Ciné Elmay (Nyarugenge) and Satelite from Kayonza.Debutants Abahizi from Kicukiro, who are mainly composed of Americans working in Kigali, also hopes to make quite an impression in their maiden appearance. The winners of the race will walk away with Rwf400, 000 while the runners-up and third placed team will bag Rwf300, 000 and 200,000, respectively. The fourth placed team will win themselves Rwf100, 000.
