Despite last week’s humiliating 0-4 defeat to Sudan in the Africa Nations Championship, Rwanda has moved up three places on the latest Fifa ranking ladder released recently.
Rwanda has moved from 113th to 110 on the Fifa ladder and is also placed on 31st position from 32nd position in April rankings.
In the latest edition, only 20 games have been taken into account but the Africa Nations Championship qualifier games Rwanda eliminated Burundi and lost to Sudan were not considered.
Rwanda had ended 2007 on a high note after improving her ranking from 122 to 99; however, the defeat to Sudan in the final of the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup could be the root cause for the latest fall.
In the Cecafa region, Ethiopia is leading on 19th in Africa and 89th in the World; Uganda is second standing on 21st in Africa and 89th in the world while Tanzania and Sudan follow ahead of Rwanda in the rankings.
Rwanda’s opponents in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers Morocco is placed 8th on the continent and 45th in the World while Mauritania is 35th in Africa and 123 in the World.
Argentina is still holding grip on the top ahead of Brazil. There are no changes in the rest of the top ten either, with the South American duo pursued by a pack of eight European teams led by Italy, Spain and Germany.
Ghana stills lead the African continent and stands on 14th position worldwide.
