The national men’s rugby team ‘Silverbacks’ starts their quest for the 2008 CAR Super 16 title this afternoon with a tough game against Kibubu; a Belgian based club in
Bujumbura, Burundi.

After failed attempts in 2006 and 2007, the Silverbacks who have been acclimatizing to conditions in Burundi since Tuesday are chasing for an improved attempt in the three-team event which also includes hosts Burundi.

Speaking to Janvier Ugeziwe, the secretary general of the local rugby federation, he said that the team is in good shape and should win today.

"The guys are in good shape and mentally strong. Physically, they are in good shape too so we expect a good game tomorrow (today),” the SG told Times Sport yesterday.

The federation president Alexis Kamanzi will this morning leave for Burundi together with a number of rugby officials to watch the Silverbacks’s first game.

Silverbacks team (Mugabo Jimmy, Cambara Koko Marcel, Bikamba Lucien, Mbarushimana Eric, Ngizwenayo Bernabé, Kamanzi Didier, Mukiza Jean-Baptiste, Kamali Vincent, Kabura Seleman, Bunani Janvier.

Others are: Uwamahoro Olivier, Akami Makombe Benjamin, Ndahirwa Aimé, Twizeyimana Jean Léonard, Nemeye Emmanuel, Gatabazi Juvénal, Ahorukomeye Innocent, Nsengiyumva Félix, MUBA Julien, Nikwigize Olivier, Shimo Joël and Ngongo Abdoul).
