KAMPALA – Bell Super League winning coach Sam Ssimbwa has hailed Express’ first title in 16 years saying it was one of the most difficult ones he had ever won.Express wrapped up the championship with a 2-1 victory over Bidco on Sunday, a win that was complemented by fellow title hopefuls Bunnamwaya’s 1-0 triumph over hitherto champions URA.Yayo Lutimba’s double gave Express what they exactly needed, a win and a result against URA in Buikwe. The Red Eagles’ season achievement was not a mean feat, Ssimbwa having hand-picked players from lower divisions after the club lost over 10 of their stars to other topflight teams. They finished the campaign with 54 points, one ahead of Edward Golola’s Bunnamwaya. Alex Isabirye’s URA ended in third on 51 points.‘‘I’m very happy for having won this championship,’’ Ssimbwa told SuperSport.com, adding, ‘‘It wasn’t easy if you consider the players I was using were all young and inexperienced."And I think this is a turning point for Express to build a strong team that will make them history for the years to come.’’
