The Minister of Local Government, James Musoni called upon local leaders to always strive for moral uprightness and fight any kind of bad leadership in the country.Musoni made the remarks on Friday during the Local Government Innovation Day which was organised by the Rwandese Association of Local Government Authorities (RALGA). According to the minister, within only a year, two of the 30 mayors have resigned and 15 sector executive secretaries have been sacked for poor performance and bad leadership. "The government is committed to promoting values and good governance principles and this means that whichever leader fails to comply with them will absolutely be dealt with accordingly,” Musoni said.He said what is required in Rwanda are innovative and transformational leaders, working hard towards community development. "The Government won’t tolerate selfish and bad leaders, and there will be no room for bad leadership.”He requested RALGA to play a key role in ensuring smooth working environment especially between councils and executive committees for better service delivery.He commended RALGA for their contribution towards enhancing good governance and socioeconomic transformation. Meanwhile, Musoni commended districts for being thorough in preparing their respective budgets for 2012-2013 financial year compared to the previous years.He also said that there is also improvement in the public financial management across all the 30 districts compared to the previous years.
