MTN launches Media Night

MTN Rwanda, the country’s leading Telecom Company, Friday evening launched the first ‘Media Night’ in Rwanda aimed at converging the country’s media fraternity to cordially get to know each other and learn more about the company’s brand.

MTN Rwanda, the country’s leading Telecom Company, Friday evening launched the first ‘Media Night’ in Rwanda aimed at converging the country’s media fraternity to cordially get to know each other and learn more about the company’s brand. Over 100 media personalities were hosted at a cocktail at Hotel Umubano, where MTN Rwanda officials unveiled elements of the company’s brand, ‘Better Together’. According to Yvonne Manzi Makolo, MTN’s Chief Marketing Officer, Rwanda’s media and journalists are a major player in our daily activities as they help inform the public about the services we provide.  "The MTN Media Night is a way of getting to know each other and a way of MTN saying we appreciate your work,” she said."The media is a major partner in our industry and as we launch the ‘Better Together’ campaign we know it’s better for the media to partner with us.  Today, we are pleased to have you with us and I hope the good relationship we’ve shared for the last many years continues,” she added. At the same function, MTN Rwanda also unveiled its Brand Ambassadors; musicians Jay Polly, Mani Martin, Sandra Miraj, Uncle Austin and Barbara Immaculate Mujire. They will take part in MTN Rwanda’s brand campaign, ‘Better Together’. MTN officials said that the campaign’s tag line is an evolution from the previous campaign which dubbed the tag line, ‘My Country, My People, My Network’."I am excited about the MTN’s ‘Better Together’ brand campaign. Life is about being together, partnering, and working as a team. You can help other people, give back to society in many ways and that is what we are doing as artists,” Uncle Austin explained.MTN Rwanda’s only brand icon, Diogene Ntarindwa, commonly known in Rwanda as Atome, was also present and he entertained the journalists.For the first time, MTN Rwanda also unveiled the company’s new TV Commercial and the ‘Nakarusho Dufatanyize’ video that features all the MTN Rwanda brand ambassadors. The video was directed by Meddy Saleh, a prominent video director in East Africa while the song was produced by Jay P.At the party, a number of journalists won airtime vouchers and phones and towards the end, every journalist present walked home with a yellow gift pack with a number of MTN goodies and particularly a ‘Better Together’ PRESS t-shirt. Despite all the joy and merry making that marked the evening, Voice of Africa’s Sifa Gisabo was the night’s major celebrant as she walked home with a bland new Black Berry Curve smart phone for her smartness and ‘touch of yellow’.
