THE Confederation of East and Central Africa football associations (Cecafa) is yet to make a final confirmation on the dates for this year’s Kagame Club Championship which is due to be held in Dar es salaam, Tanzania.Initially, the event was scheduled to be held from June 21 to July 5 at the national stadium but the Cecafa secretariat cancelled the dates with reasons yet to be known.Secretary General Nicholas Musonye, yesterday, said, "We are still working on the logistics and the needed requirements for the tournament. We are deciding the dates for the event before the end of this week.”Three-time Kagame club champions APR have been busy strengthening their squad ready for the money spinning club championship which is in its 38th year. APR who are preparing for the quarter finals of the MTN Peace Cup tournament will head into camp in early July.Other clubs which will participate in the tournament include Kenya’s Tusker Fc, Tanzanian side Simba, Burundian club Atlético Olympic, Uganda’s URA, Somalia’s Elman FC, Zanzibar’s Mafunzo FC, Eritrea’s Red Sea FC, Ethiopian Coffee FC and Sudan’s Al Hilal.Cecafa have confirmed that they need $600,000 (Rwf. 358.2 million) to host the event but President Paul Kagame will offer $60,000 (Rwf. 35.8m) worth of cash prize for a tenth year running.
