2014 World Cup qualifierSundayRwanda vs. BeninBENIN football team, The Squirrels, arrived in the country yesterday afternoon to acclimatise ahead of their 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifier against Rwanda due this Sunday at Amahoro stadium.The Squirrels jetted in aboard Kenya Airways and went straight to Lemigo Hotel to recover from a five-hour jetlag.Head coach Manuel Amoros is set to take his side to today’s training session at Stade de Kigali and Amahoro stadium on Saturday.According to Amoros, the decision to reach Kigali, four days prior to the match is to allow players to fully recover from the fatigue accumulated during their home game against Mali.Benin is boasted with Premier League star and skipper Stephane Sessegnon who plays for Sunderland. Sessegnon is also being given intensive care to enable him feature in Sunday’s match after he limped off against Mali with a knee injury scare.Benin looks motivated and determined to get a good result against Rwanda in their quest to qualify in 2014 World Cup finals.Benin humbled Mali 1-0 last Sunday at the Amitie Stadium in Cotonou to sit on the second position of Group H in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, behind Algeria who handed Rwanda a 4-0 drubbing the day before.The home team’s dominance yielded dividends early in the 20th minute when Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita lost a ball in the middle of the park, which a Beninese player quickly laid upfront for Zamalek forward Razak Omotoyossi, who outran his marker before unleashing his effort into the back of the net.In anotehr Group H encounter, Mali will play host to Algeria in Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou on Saturday, after FIFA decided the tie be moved to a neutral venue due to continued political instability in Mali.
