Rutagwenda elected to continental animal health body

Dr Theogene Rutagwenda, the director general of animal resources in the Ministry of Agriculture has been elected the vice president of the world Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), Regional Commission for Africa.

Dr Theogene Rutagwenda, the director general of animal resources in the Ministry of Agriculture has been elected the vice president of the world Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), Regional Commission for Africa.

He was elected at a recent general assembly of OIE, held in Paris, France.

The assembly that attracted over 600 delegates from member countries also elected Dr. Marosi Molomo from Lesotho as president for the Africa region.

In an interview with The New Times, Rutagwenda said the continent is besieged by different animal diseases which he would tackle as a matter of priority.
