RWAMAGANA – Local leaders who just concluded a two-week national civic education programme commonly known as Itorero ry’Igihugu in Burera District, have vowed to serve their communities diligently.This was disclosed at a ceremony organised by the Eastern Province to officially welcome Executive Secretaries back to their respective cells.Eric Kayihura, one of the grassroots leaders, said the training gave them a chance to refresh and forge new ways to manage their communities.He said civic education reminded local leaders of their duties and obligations to society."Sometimes you relax and get overtaken by events. Trainings like these are good wake up calls. I, for instance, discovered that I owed my community more service than I gave,” he said.Odette Uwamariya, the Governor of the Eastern Province, pledged her support to the local leaders."Offices are going be renovated or constructed where necessary. We shall also provide you with computers,” she said.
