With many top flight clubs struggling to get decent keepers and leaking in unnecessary goals due to poor basic mistakes, former Amavubi goalkeeping coach Thomas Higiro is sure this will soon be a thing of the past after starting a goalkeeping school.

With many top flight clubs struggling to get decent keepers and leaking in unnecessary goals due to poor basic mistakes, former Amavubi goalkeeping coach Thomas Higiro is sure this will soon be a thing of the past after starting a goalkeeping school.Irebero Goalkeeping School has 80 goal keepers that train three times a week at Kigali Regional stadium under the tutelage of Higiro and former keepers like Andre Lomami, Jean Baptiste Higiro, Alexis Mugabo and James Recyeraho Higiro, a former APR and Rayon Sport goalkeeper coach, wants to train young goal keepers and also help former players (goalkeepers) with coaching skills."Anyone is free to join this goalkeeping school. The only requirement is being a Rwandan and having goal keepers’ equipment like gloves training kit."We train goalkeepers and former goalkeepers who want take up coaching,” said Higiro, who also coached Police Fc’s goalkeepers.The goalkeeping school is the first of its kind in the country.
