Africans should solve it’s own problems

Editor, I wish to concur with Marie Collins, who questioned the competence of the UN, through a letter to The New Times on Saturday, titled, “Rwandans must reject UN lies”. The UN is one organ that does not have a backbone and has no record of positive results in conflict inflicted areas.

Editor,I wish to concur with Marie Collins, who questioned the competence of the UN, through a letter to The New Times on Saturday, titled, "Rwandans must reject UN lies”. The UN is one organ that does not have a backbone and has no record of positive results in conflict inflicted areas.

ut of all the wars in Africa and other parts of the world, including the current crisis in Syria, the UN has not resolved any that we know of. Rwanda has made significant strides in the right direction comparable to any other country.Given the bleak future and hardships the country went through, it would be wrong to now start listening to the very people who abandoned us when we needed them most! Africa’s problems will be solved by Africans! Expecting anyone else to do it for us would be foolhardy! Rwandans have made great gains in unity, economic development and education, and should not be deterred by detractors.Robert Ahimbisibwe
