Following the Amavubi team’s humiliating loss to Sudan over the weekend, head coach Blanko Tucak has imposed media blackout on the team.
According to the news reaching Timesport the new national team coach imposed on blackout while in Sudan where the team lost 4-0.
"We have been warned not to talk anything regarding the national team," this was the comment every Amavubi player could echo when approached for an interview on Monday.
This ‘rule’ even applied to the traveling contingent that was led by Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa.
Just like other members on the team, Kalisa turned down every request for the interview on arrival.
Amavubi team assistant coach Raoul Shungu opted not to say anything referring to the media to the head coach.
He said, "If you want to know anything, ask the head coach (Tucak)," he said.
Just like Shungu, Amavubi team captain Jean Baptista Mugiraneza said, "I have been barred from talking to you guys (media) and it could be better if you excused me,"
"I would tell you many things if I had the right but with the situation at hand, nothing can be revealed on the team’s performance in Sudan," For starters, Amavubi team suffered 4-0 defeat at the hands of Sudan’s Desert Hawks in the first round of the African Nations Championship on Sunday in Khartoum.
