THOUSANDS of ecstatic crowds thronged the Huye stadium for the second season of Primus Guma Guma Superstar (PGGSS 2) road show on June 3. Estimated at more than 20,000, the fans were treated to lively performances by the 10 PGGSS stars, Knowles, Young Grace, Jay Polly, Riderman, King James, Bull Dog, Danny, Just Family, Dream Boyz and Urban Boyz, with the trio of Anita and Tino, and DJ Bissoso marshalling the MCs in turns.  Beside music, drinks were served in plenty with two bottles of Petit Primus selling at a promotional prize of Rwf500.On Saturday night, after performing in Nyamagabe, the stars provided the backdrop for the much anticipated concert in Huye town at a party held at the poolside of Groupe Scolaire Officiel de Butare. The first act on stage was the Just Family, and the boys provided quite a show for the spectators, but it also kept security on their toes.Young Grace, the youngest contestant in the competition,  showed maturity of vocal execution and stage gig. She started off with a cool, calm and collected performance.Bull Dog chose to sing his songs, "Customer Care”, "Bye Bye Nyakatsi”, "Jalousie” and ended with an accapela version of his new single, "Umunsi wimperuka”."It was a bit easier for this event to attract huge crowds, because Huye is famous for its lively ambience, with several music events, which are normally organised by institutions around, such as the National University of Rwanda,” said Eugene Kayiranga Muzuka, the Huye District mayor."The concert provided a great opportunity for the residents to showcase their products. It’s important because music promotes peace and unity in the society – so we thank for Bralirwa for bringing the road show to Huye,” he added.Riderman hit the stage in his Hip-hop style, performing, "Mwitende”, and followed it with his trademark track, "Bomboribombori”, which attracted even other artistes on stage. The enigmatic young star worked the crowd and kept them on their toes dancing excitedly."It was pretty fun, great performances from each artiste and the energy on stage was incredible,” said Sylvie Uwase, a resident of Huye. "Rwandan artistes have improved their stage performances; they now know how to engage the crowd – thanks to Bralirwa for organising the competition. I enjoyed this concert,” she added. The reticent but popular R&B star, King James was up next as he belted out two of his popular tracks, "Narashize” and "Ndakwizera”. Urban Boyz, the R&B trio wowed the crowd with their energetic dance strokes, as well as sultry tones."I really like this group; they have a lot of energy and presence on stage,” noted Pierre Tuyisenge. On his part, Joy Polly sang his rendition of "Ndacyariho ndahumeka”, "Akanyarirajisho”, and "Umwami uganje”. The Hip-hop star willingly demonstrated his versatility to the fans.In a lovely and engaging twist, Knowles picked a girl and boys from the crowd to join her on stage in a cheerful and light performance.Unfortunately, Dream Boyz’s Platini had to perform all alone, as his associate TMC was admitted in the hospital. But that did not hinder him from delivering a great show. "The reason why I am performing alone is because TMC is very sick. We appeal for your prayers so that he gets better. We love you all and thanks for supporting our group,” Platini urged, before his performance. Also lined up for a performance was Danny. The competition enters a decisive stage with the road shows due to draw to a close, with elimination phases thereafter, in the quest to win this year’s whooping cash prize of Rwf24.
