THE just concluded Housing and Property Expo will be held at least every year to ease people’s ability to buy houses and apartments from a variety of competitors in the real estate sector, according to the President of the Real Estate Association of Rwanda (REAR), Charles Haba.Following the success of the first ever National Property Expo that run from the 31st May to 1st June at Hotel Umubano, the annual event is expected to fill the information gap in Rwanda whereby, many people lack knowledge about various real estate services and mortgage facilities offered by banks."We shall make the expo an annual event but moved towards the end of year, as that was the feedback from exhibitors and the visitors,” Haba said in an interview yesterday.Banks such as Bank of Kigali, Kenya Commercial Banks, Rwanda Development Bank and Fina Bank used the expo to attract clients interested in mortgage deals, whereas the Rwanda Social Security Board looked for people interested in buying land plots in Kigali."The expo was quite successful. It was attended by at least 500 guests everyday. Most of the exhibitors, particularly banks and real estate developers, confirmed deals from interested home buyers,” Haba added.Other participants included developers, real estate agents, property managers and property consultants. It was sponsored by Rwanda Housing Authority and the Rwanda Development Board.
